H. Lynn Erickson

H. Lynn Erickson, Ed.D., is an independent educational consultant known internationally for her work in concept-based curriculum design and instruction. Over more than two decades, she has assisted K–12 schools and districts in designing classroom and district-level curricula aligned with academic standards and national requirements, and has served as a consultant to the International Baccalaureate Organization for the development of the Middle Years Programme – the Next Chapter. Earlier in her career she worked as a teacher, principal, curriculum director, adjunct professor, and educational consultant.

Erickson is the author of several influential books on curriculum and instruction, including Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction for the Thinking Classroom (with Lois A. Lanning and Rachel French), Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction: Teaching Beyond the Facts, and Transitioning to Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction: How to Bring Content and Process Together (co-authored with Lois Lanning), as well as Stirring the Head, Heart, and Soul: Redefining Curriculum and Instruction. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees in curriculum and instruction and school administration from the University of Montana, and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Alaska before teaching in Alaska, California, and Montana.
