Harvey F. Silver, EdD, is an educator, author, and professional development leader who serves as president and cofounder of Silver Strong & Associates and Thoughtful Education Press. Over more than four decades, he has worked as a teacher, presenter, coach, and consultant, leading thousands of workshops, institutes, and academies for schools, districts, and state education organizations across the United States. He was named one of the 100 most influential teachers in the country and has served as principal consultant for initiatives such as the Georgia Critical Thinking Skills Program and the Kentucky Thoughtful Education Teacher Leadership Program.
Silver is the coauthor, with Jay McTighe, of Teaching for Deeper Learning: Tools to Engage Students in Meaning Making, published by ASCD. He has written or co-written numerous influential books on instructional tools and strategies, including ASCD bestsellers The Strategic Teacher: Selecting the Right Research-Based Strategy for Every Lesson, The Core Six, So Each May Learn: Integrating Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences, Teaching What Matters Most, and Reading for Meaning: How to Build Students’ Comprehension, Reasoning, and Problem-Solving Skills.
