Hatem Aly

Hatem Aly is an Egyptian-born children’s book illustrator whose work has appeared in books published around the world. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Helwan in Cairo and later moved to Canada in 2007; he currently lives in New Brunswick, Canada. His illustrations include Meet Yasmin! with Saadia Faruqi, The Inquisitor’s Tale by Adam Gidwitz, The Unicorn Rescue Society series, The Proudest Blue, In My Mosque, and The Book That Almost Rhymed.

Aly’s books and illustrations have received multiple starred reviews and appeared on The New York Times bestseller list. His work is known for bringing visual energy to children’s stories and for depicting diverse characters and settings in a positive, engaging style.
