Haya Saleh
Haya Saleh Ibrahim is a Jordanian critic, novelist, playwright, drama writer, and children’s author, born in 1977 in Sahab, Jordan. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Arabic language and literature from Al al-Bayt University, completed in 1999, and is a member of the Jordanian Writers Society. In addition to her literary work, she has long been active in the cultural field, including work in theatre and drama criticism.
Saleh is the author of Wild Poppies, a middle‑grade/young adult novel originally published in Arabic as شقائق النعمان (Al Yasmine Publishing, 2020) and later translated into English by Marcia Lynx Qualey and published in 2023. The novel, which follows two brothers coming of age amid war in Syria, won the 2020 Etisalat Award for Arabic Children’s Literature (YA category) and has been recognized internationally, including shortlisting for the Global Literature in Libraries Initiative Translated Young Adult Book Prize.
