Henry Turner
Henry J. Turner is an award-winning high school principal, author, and nationally recognized speaker on antiracism and equity in education. Based in Massachusetts, he has more than 20 years of experience as a high school teacher and principal and serves on the UMass Amherst Commonwealth Honors College Advisory Board, the Massachusetts School Administrator Association Board, and as a Future Ready Schools Advisor. He was named 2020 K–12 Principal of the Year by K–12 Dive, reflecting his work to build student-centered school cultures that confront hate and bigotry and prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Turner is the author of Change the Narrative: How to Foster an Antiracist Culture in Your School, a practical guide for school leaders on developing and sustaining antiracist school cultures through structures, routines, and ongoing learning. In addition to his writing, he frequently speaks across the country about innovative instructional leadership, empowering student voice, and addressing racial and economic disparities in schools.
