Henry Winkler

Henry Winkler is an American actor, producer, director, and author, born on October 30, 1945, in Manhattan, New York. He is widely known for his iconic role as Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli on the sitcom Happy Days (1974–1984), a performance that made him a major pop‑culture figure and earned him two Golden Globe Awards. Winkler studied acting, earning a B.A. from Emerson College in 1967 and an M.F.A. from the Yale School of Drama in 1970.

In addition to his long career in film and television and his Emmy‑winning role as Gene Cousineau in the series Barry, Winkler has become a successful author of books for young readers. He is the co‑author, with Lin Oliver, of the bestselling Hank Zipzer series and other children’s titles, including Lights, Camera, Danger!, part of their middle‑grade series featuring a character with learning challenges. Winkler has also written memoirs, notably The Other Side of Henry Winkler and Being Henry: The Fonz … and Beyond.
