Holly Durham

Holly Durham is an educator, consultant, and author with more than 30 years of experience in public education, including roles as an English teacher, instructional coach, and district-level leader. She began her career teaching middle school English near Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1992 and later moved to Houston, Texas in 1997, where she taught high school English and subsequently served in leadership positions focused on literacy, policy, accountability, and coaching for teachers and administrators. She retired from K–12 schools in 2025 and currently works in professional learning and consulting, supporting grades 3–12 with grammar, analytical reading and writing, and educator professional development.

Durham is the author of Patterns of Analysis: Connecting the Conventions of Grammar to Analytical Reading and Writing (6–12), published by Routledge/Taylor & Francis in 2025–2026, which integrates grammar instruction with analytical reading and writing through a descriptivist lens. She is also co-author, with Jeff Anderson and Travis Leech, of Patterns of Power, Grades 9–12: Teaching Grammar Through Reading and Writing, which extends Anderson’s invitational approach to grammar for high school students.
