Holly Mariah Menzies

Holly Mariah Menzies, PhD, is a Professor Emeritus of Special Education at California State University, Los Angeles. Early in her career, she taught in public schools as both a general and special educator at the elementary and middle school levels, and she has provided staff development focused on assessment, language arts, and schoolwide positive behavior support. Her scholarly interests include inclusive education, school-based interventions, school discipline, teachers’ perceptions of education reform, and student learning outcomes assessment at the university level. She earned her master’s and doctorate in education from the University of California, Riverside and has served on the editorial board of Learning Disabilities Research & Practice.

Menzies is coauthor of Managing Challenging Behaviors in Schools: Research-Based Strategies That Work, an applied guide to preventing and responding to problem behavior in K–12 classrooms within a comprehensive, integrated three-tiered (Ci3T) model. She has also coauthored Developing Schoolwide Programs to Prevent and Manage Problem Behaviors: A Step-by-Step Approach and Developing a Schoolwide Framework to Prevent and Manage Learning and Behavior Problems, which address schoolwide positive behavior support and multi-tiered prevention frameworks.
