Ignacio Lopez, Ed.D., is an educational psychologist and school leader whose work focuses on emotional intelligence, culturally responsive teaching, and school–community relationships. He holds a doctorate in educational psychology from National Louis University and has served in multiple instructional and leadership roles, including English teacher, reading teacher, AVID teacher, curriculum administrator in Chicago Public Schools, and leadership positions at National Louis University such as vice provost/deputy provost and professor of education.
Lopez is the author of The EQ Way: How Emotionally Intelligent School Leaders Navigate Turbulent Times (ASCD, 2024), which examines how school leaders can apply emotional intelligence—self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills—to lead with clarity and calm in challenging contexts. His other publications include Keeping It Real and Relevant: Building Authentic Relationships in Your Diverse Classroom (2017) and work on classroom management and behavior interventions, reflecting his long-standing focus on building authentic relationships and supportive school cultures.
