Ilene Carver

Ilene Carver is a Boston-based educator and family engagement specialist who has taught in the Boston Public Schools for about 20 years. Family engagement has been a central focus of her classroom practice, and she has been involved in building school-level frameworks to support stronger partnerships between families and educators. She spent three years with the Center for Collaborative Education, where she supported teachers, principals, and parents across Boston through family engagement and school coaching initiatives.

Carver is a coauthor of Powerful Partnerships: A Teacher’s Guide to Engaging Families for Student Success (Scholastic, 2017), written with Karen L. Mapp and Jessica Lander, which guides educators in developing respectful, trusting relationships with families to support student learning. She also contributed to the Family and Community Education subcommittee for the Knowledge and Skills of Professional Teaching project, helping inform the development of Massachusetts’ teacher evaluation standards for family engagement.
