Author
Isabel Quintero is an award-winning American writer and the daughter of Mexican immigrants, born and raised in the Inland Empire region of Southern California, including the city of Corona. A first-generation college graduate, she earned both her B.A. in English literature (2005) and M.A. in English composition (2013) from California State University, San Bernardino. Her work has received multiple honors, including the William C. Morris Award for Debut YA, the California Book Award Gold Medal, and a Boston Globe–Horn Book Award.
Quintero is the author of the celebrated young adult novel Gabi, A Girl in Pieces, as well as the chapter books Ugly Cat and Pablo and Ugly Cat and Pablo and the Missing Brother. She has also written the graphic biography Photographic: The Life of Graciela Iturbide and the picture book My Papi Has a Motorcycle (and its Spanish edition Mi papi tiene una moto), a story inspired by her childhood and her community in Corona, California.
