Jacy Ippolito

Jacy Ippolito, EdD, is a professor of literacy and leadership in the McKeown School of Education at Salem State University in Massachusetts, where he teaches courses in literacy and educational leadership, co-directs the graduate programs in Educational Leadership, and co-leads the Center for Educational Leadership. Prior to his work in higher education, he served as a middle school reading specialist, literacy coach, and drama teacher in the Boston/Cambridge area. He earned both his master’s and doctorate in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, following a bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology from the University of Delaware’s Honors Program.

Ippolito’s research and consulting focus on the intersection of instructional coaching, educational leadership, adolescent and disciplinary literacy, and school reform. He is coauthor of Cultivating Coaching Mindsets: An Action Guide for Instructional Leaders (also published in a revised second edition), and his other books include Adolescent Literacy in the Era of the Common Core, Adolescent Literacy, Unpacking Coaching Mindsets: Collaboration Between Principals and Instructional Coaches, and An UnCommon Theory of School Change.
