Jake Wizner
Jake Wizner is a middle-school English teacher and author of young adult fiction and professional resources for educators. He has taught eighth-grade English at a public middle school in New York City for many years, drawing on his classroom experience to inform his work with adolescent writers. Wizner grew up in a dormitory at Yale University, where his mother was a university dean, and later attended Wesleyan University.
Wizner is the author of the professional book Worth Writing About: Exploring Memoir with Adolescents (Stenhouse Publishers, 2015), which presents strategies, student models, and curriculum design for teaching memoir writing in middle school. He is also known for his young adult novels Spanking Shakespeare (an ALA–YALSA Best Book for Young Adults) and Castration Celebration, both of which draw on his experience and memories of campus life and adolescent humor. He lives in New York City with his family.
