James A. Bailey
James A. Bailey is an educator, consultant, and author whose career has included roles as a teacher, principal, school turnaround leader, principal consultant, and superintendent across Texas, Colorado, and Wyoming. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Innovation and serves as core faculty at Walden University in the field of educational leadership. Bailey is a managing partner with Brass Tacks Innovations and works closely with schools and systems on social-emotional learning (SEL) and leadership development.
Bailey is co-author of The Daily SEL Leader: A Guided Journal, which provides daily reflections and guided practice to help school and team leaders strengthen their own social and emotional competencies and support SEL in their communities. He also co-authored Building Learning Capacity in an Age of Uncertainty and has published on how school leaders interpret and apply SEL skills, including the article “Interpreting Social-Emotional Learning: How School Leaders Make Sense of SEL Skills for Themselves and Others.”
