Jamie Hector

Jamie Hector is a Haitian American actor and children’s author best known for his role as Marlo Stanfield in the HBO series The Wire. Drawing on his experiences as a father, he co-authored the Chloé Wonders series, including Chloé Wonders (Single-Copy Set) and Chloé Wonders (Multiple-Copy Set): Stories That Encourage Children to Ask Questions and Solve Problems, with Alaine Roberson for Scholastic Teaching Resources. The books, illustrated by Rachel Moss, are based on Hector’s real-life daughter, Chloé, and focus on social-emotional learning as Chloé and her family explore cultural identity, problem solving, and everyday challenges.

In addition to his work in film and television, Hector has authored five children’s books in the Chloé Wonders series published by Scholastic. He and Alaine Roberson also co-founded the nonprofit Moving Mountains, which uses storytelling and the arts to support young people and has partnered with Scholastic on Haitian-themed adaptations of the Chloé Wonders stories for the Our Community collection.
