Jan Hasbrouck
Jan Hasbrouck, Ph.D., is a researcher, educational consultant, and author specializing in literacy, with widely published work on reading fluency, reading assessment, academic interventions, and instructional coaching. She spent about 15 years as a reading specialist and literacy coach before joining the faculty at the University of Oregon and later serving as a professor at Texas A&M University. She earned her B.A. and M.A. from the University of Oregon and completed her Ph.D. at Texas A&M University.
Hasbrouck is the lead developer of the Student-Focused Coaching model and coauthor of Student-Focused Coaching: The Instructional Coach’s Guide to Supporting Student Success Through Teacher Collaboration. Her books and coauthored works also include Next STEPS in Literacy Instruction: Connecting Assessments to Effective Interventions and The Writing Rope: A Framework for Explicit Writing Instruction in All Subjects, as well as other titles such as Conquering Dyslexia, Reading Fluency, and Climbing the Ladder of Reading & Writing. She works with schools and agencies across the United States and internationally, consults on reading assessment and intervention, and continues to collaborate on research projects related to reading and literacy.
