Jane Emerson

Jane Emerson is a specialist in numeracy learning difficulties and co-author of The Dyscalculia Assessment, a teacher-focused tool for identifying maths difficulties in children. The assessment was devised at Emerson House, a specialist centre in London that supports pupils with difficulties in numeracy and literacy, and is designed to investigate specific numeracy problems rather than diagnose a condition.

She co-authored both editions of The Dyscalculia Assessment with Patricia Babtie, providing step-by-step assessment procedures and guidance for developing personalised teaching plans for pupils who struggle with arithmetic and basic numeracy skills. Emerson also appears as an expert guest discussing dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia on educational podcasts and in the Dyscalculia Network’s “Ask the Expert” series.
