Jane Straus
Jane Straus (1954–2011) was an American writer and educator best known as the author of The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation: An Easy-to-Use Guide with Clear Rules, Real-World Examples, and Reproducible Quizzes. She founded GrammarBook.com, where she made the contents of The Blue Book widely available as a self-help resource for improving English grammar, punctuation, and usage. Born in San Francisco, Straus studied at the University of California and began developing her grammar materials in the mid-1970s while working on communication training for state employees.
In addition to The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation, Straus wrote the inspirational self-help book Enough Is Enough! Stop Enduring and Start Living Your Extraordinary Life, reflecting her parallel career as a life and relationship coach. She was frequently interviewed by national media, including major television networks, and contributed articles to outlets such as USA Today and Woman’s World. Straus died on February 25, 2011, after a two-year battle with brain cancer.
