Jared Fox

Jared Fox, Ph.D., is an award-winning environmental science educator, author, and education consultant whose work sits at the intersection of science, environment, and social justice. He is the author of Learning Environment: Inspirational Actions, Approaches, and Stories from the Science Classroom (Beacon Press, 2025), an actionable roadmap that draws on his experience teaching science in urban schools to help K–12 STEM educators integrate experiential, community-based learning into their classrooms.

A former secondary science teacher, department chair, instructional coach, and instructional leadership team member at the Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School (WHEELS) in northern Manhattan, Fox has been recognized as a Math for America Master Teacher, an Academy for Teachers Fellow, the 2019 Sloan Award winner for Excellence in Teaching Science and Mathematics, a 2020 Times Square New Year’s Eve Waterford Crystal Ball honoree, and a 2022 WE ACT for Environmental Justice Advocate. He now works as an independent education consultant and writes about pedagogy and environmental justice on his Learning Environment Substack and at his professional site, jaredfox.education.
