Jarred Amato is an award‑winning English teacher, author, and literacy advocate, best known for his professional book Just Read It: Unlocking the Magic of Independent Reading in Middle and High School Classrooms (Corwin Literacy, 2024). He has taught middle and high school English and is the co‑founder of Project LIT Community, a grassroots literacy movement focused on increasing access to high‑interest, diverse books and fostering a love of reading among students.
In Just Read It, Amato draws on his classroom experience to highlight the transformative impact of independent reading and to share his Read and WRAP (write, reflect, analyze, participate) framework, which helps teachers integrate daily independent reading with meaningful writing, reflection, discussion, and community‑building. He frequently works with schools and educators through workshops, professional development sessions, and literacy events to support the implementation of equitable, student‑centered reading practices.
