Jason E. Harlacher

Jason E. Harlacher, PhD, is a senior researcher at the American Institutes for Research and the director of the MTSS Center. He has more than 18 years of experience in education and has worked as a school psychologist, district-level technical assistance provider, adjunct professor, state-level consultant, and state director for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports in Nevada.

Dr. Harlacher’s work focuses on classroom management, data-based decision making, intensive intervention, social and emotional learning, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio University, a master’s degree in school psychology from Utah State University, and a doctorate in school psychology from the University of Oregon. He is the coauthor of Untangling Data-Based Decision Making: A Problem-Solving Model to Enhance MTSS and other MTSS-focused books.
