Jay Jackson
Jay Jackson is an educator and author focused on helping teachers cultivate resilience and responsibility in their students. He wrote Up to the Challenge: Teaching Resilience and Responsibility in the Classroom, published by Solution Tree Press in March 2023, which provides practical tools for integrating performance character concepts—such as self-awareness, integrity, purpose, passion, positivity, courage, commitment, and grit—into everyday classroom instruction. The book is designed for teachers across grade levels and subject areas who want to support students in meeting challenges with greater success and joy.
In addition to his writing, Jackson presents professional learning sessions and webinars for K–12 educators on teaching resilience and performance character, including work associated with the National Youth Advocacy & Resilience Conference and Solution Tree’s “Teaching Resilience and Responsibility in the Classroom: Up to the Challenge” webinar. His materials and classroom tools are used in schools, gyms, and after-school programs to help students and adults develop mindsets centered on grit, resilience, and stepping outside their comfort zones.
