Jeanetta Jones Miller

Jeanetta Jones Miller is an educator and author who has worked in schools since 1986, teaching American studies, senior projects, and a range of English courses in both California and Connecticut. She has served as an English department chair and mentor to many teachers, with a consistent focus on researching, developing, and implementing strategies that help all students engage deeply in learning. In 2010, she received the National Council of Teachers of English English Language Arts Teacher Educators (ELATE) James Moffett Memorial Award for teacher research.

Miller is the author of Teacher Leaders, Classroom Champions: How to Influence, Support, and Renew School Communities, which offers teacher-specific perspectives and leadership strategies for building collective teacher efficacy. She also wrote The Student-Centered Classroom: Transforming Your Teaching and Grading Practices, a guide to six teaching practices that support interactive, individualized, and rigorous student-centered learning. Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree from Mills College, teaching credentials from California State University, East Bay, a master’s degree in education from Western Connecticut State University, and an intermediate administrator’s certificate from Sacred Heart University.
