Jeanne L. Paynter

Jeanne L. Paynter, Ed.D., is an educator, writer, and consultant specializing in talent development and gifted education. She is the author of Teach to Develop Talent: How to Motivate and Engage Tomorrow’s Innovators Today, which introduces her brain-based, Talent-Targeted Teaching and Learning model and provides practical strategies for developing students’ metacognitive, creative problem-solving, and leadership skills alongside academic content standards. She has designed PK–12 talent development programs for more than three decades, with a particular focus on increasing the participation and achievement of culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse learners in advanced programming.

Paynter is the founder and CEO of Educating Innovators LLC and serves as president of the Maryland Coalition for Gifted and Talented Education (MCGATE). Previously, she was state specialist for gifted and talented education at the Maryland State Department of Education and coordinator for gifted education and magnet programs K–12 in Baltimore County Public Schools. She works as an educational consultant and faculty associate at Johns Hopkins University and has earned a Doctorate in Teacher Development and Leadership and a Master’s in Gifted Education from Johns Hopkins University, as well as a B.S. in English from Towson University.
