Jeff C. Marshall
Jeff C. Marshall is a Professor of Science Education and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Education at Clemson University. He directs the Inquiry in Motion Institute, which focuses on transforming K–12 mathematics and science classrooms through rigorous, authentic inquiry-based learning experiences. Marshall holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master’s degree and doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a physics/chemistry emphasis from Indiana University. He previously received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
Marshall is the author of Succeeding with Inquiry in Science and Math Classrooms (ASCD, 2013), which supports teachers in implementing inquiry-based instruction and describes tools such as the Electronic Quality of Inquiry Protocol (EQUIP) for measuring and improving inquiry-oriented teaching. In addition to this book, he has authored more than 40 scholarly articles and multiple studies on inquiry-based instruction and student higher-order thinking in math and science classrooms.
