Jen Munson
Jen Munson is an assistant professor of learning sciences at Northwestern University, where her research examines how interactions among students, teachers, and coaches support learning in elementary mathematics classrooms. She is a former elementary and middle school classroom teacher, math coach, and professional developer who has worked with teachers and school leaders across the United States to develop responsive, equitable mathematics instruction. Munson received her PhD in mathematics education from Stanford University.
Munson is the author of In the Moment: Conferring in the Elementary Math Classroom and The Collaborative Math Classroom: Launching a Student-Centered Mathematical Community, and she coauthors the Mindset Mathematics: Visualizing and Investigating Big Ideas curriculum series for grades K–8 with Jo Boaler and Cathy Williams. Her work, including the Mindset Mathematics series and her books on conferring and collaboration, focuses on helping teachers create student-centered, collaborative math classrooms that foster equitable participation and deep mathematical thinking.
