Jennifer A. Kurth

Jennifer A. Kurth is a Professor of Special Education at the University of Kansas and affiliated faculty with the University of Kansas Center on Disabilities. Her work focuses on improving outcomes for students with complex support needs by enhancing access to learning in general education settings, developing effective practices and systems to promote learning in inclusive classrooms, and advancing teacher education. She has served as principal investigator at the Kansas Institute on Positive Behavior Supports, and her research agenda includes implementing inclusive education, educational placement decision making, and developing natural supports in inclusive settings, particularly for students with significant disabilities.

Kurth is the co-author of The Inclusion Toolbox: Strategies and Techniques for All Teachers, a practical resource for designing and implementing inclusive education programs published by Corwin Press. She has also co-authored scholarly work such as “Supporting Students With Severe Disabilities in Inclusive Schools,” which examines the impact of inclusive experiences on learning outcomes for students with significant disabilities. In addition, she co-authored Inclusive Education in a Strengths-Based Era: Mapping the Future of the Field, which explores effective practices for inclusive education from a strengths-based perspective.
