Jennifer Orr

Jennifer Orr is an elementary school teacher in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., where she has taught for more than two decades across nearly every elementary grade level in highly diverse school communities. She is a National Board–Certified Teacher and a frequent mentor to new and pre-service teachers.

Orr is the author of Demystifying Discussion: How to Teach and Assess Academic Conversation Skills, K–5 and the coauthor, with Matthew R. Kay, of We’re Gonna Keep on Talking: How to Lead Meaningful Race Conversations in the Elementary Classroom. She has also written Letters to a New Teacher: Real Advice and Practical Strategies for Getting Started in Elementary Teaching.
