Jennifer Ritchotte

Jennifer A. Ritchotte, Ph.D., is an associate professor of gifted and talented education in the School of Special Education at the University of Northern Colorado, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and co-coordinates graduate programs in gifted and talented education. She holds a Ph.D. in special education with an emphasis in gifted education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and previously taught language arts and gifted and talented students at the middle and secondary levels. Her research focuses on gifted underachievement, twice-exceptionality, middle and secondary gifted education, and the cognitive and affective needs of at-risk gifted student populations.

Ritchotte is coauthor of Start Seeing and Serving Underserved Gifted Students: 50 Strategies for Equity and Excellence (Free Spirit Professional), along with Chin-Wen Lee and Amy Graefe. She has published multiple scholarly articles on gifted education, including work on reversing gifted underachievement, validating the Achievement-Orientation Model for gifted middle school students, exploring psychosocial characteristics of high-achieving and identified gifted students, and coaching parents to use higher-level questioning with their twice-exceptional children.
