Jennifer Serravallo

Jennifer Serravallo is a New York Times bestselling author, literacy consultant, and educator known for her practical, research-aligned resources that support responsive reading and writing instruction in K–12 classrooms. She has authored more than fifteen books and professional resources, including The Reading Strategies Book (original edition and The Reading Strategies Book 2.0), The Writing Strategies Book, Teaching Writing in Small Groups, Teaching Reading in Small Groups, A Teacher’s Guide to Reading Conferences, Understanding Texts and Readers, and the assessment resource Complete Comprehension for Fiction and Nonfiction. Several of her titles have been translated into Spanish, French, Chinese, and other languages, and are widely used by educators around the world.

Serravallo began her career as a New York City public school teacher and later served as a Senior Staff Developer at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University. She regularly presents and keynotes at state, regional, and national conferences and works with schools across the United States, Canada, and internationally through workshops, consulting, and online professional learning.
