Jerry Pallotta

Jerry Pallotta (Gerard Larry Pallotta) is an American children’s author best known for his nonfiction nature and science books and for the popular Who Would Win? series, which includes Ultimate Shark Rumble (Who Would Win?) among its titles. Born on March 26, 1953, in Boston, Massachusetts, he grew up spending summers at Peggotty Beach in Scituate, Massachusetts, experiences that inspired his first book, The Ocean Alphabet Book. He initially worked as an insurance salesman and produced The Ocean Alphabet Book himself, selling thousands of copies through the New England Aquarium before moving into writing full-time.

Pallotta has since written dozens of children’s books, including more than twenty alphabet books such as The Icky Bug Alphabet Book, as well as math-focused titles like The Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Multiplication Book and Apple Fractions. His work is noted for combining accurate factual information with humor and engaging illustrations, and he frequently visits schools and libraries across the United States to talk with young readers about reading, writing, and creating their own books. He lives in Massachusetts with his family.
