Jill Nottingham

Jill Nottingham is a teacher, educational leader, and consultant whose work focuses on helping young learners develop their ability to learn through dialogue, feedback, and structured challenge. Her background is in teaching, leadership, and consultancy, including experience as a teacher and school leader in kindergartens and schools in socially deprived areas of North East England, where she developed approaches to teaching children how to learn that continue to be used in schools and taught in universities. She has trained with Edward de Bono at the University of Malta and has studied for a Master’s degree in Education at the University of Newcastle. Jill is a Director at Challenging Learning, where she leads the organisation’s pre-school and primary school consultancy and has authored and edited many of its teaching materials.

As an author, Jill Nottingham has co‑written several influential professional learning texts. These include Challenging Learning Through Feedback: How to Get the Type, Tone and Quality of Feedback Right Every Time, co‑authored with James Nottingham; and Challenging Learning Through Dialogue: Strategies to Engage Your Students and Develop Their Language of Learning, co‑authored with James Nottingham and Martin Renton.
