Jim Watterston

Jim Watterston is an Australian education leader and honorary Enterprise Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne. He began his career as a teacher in a rural Indigenous classroom in Western Australia and later served as a school principal, regional director, deputy secretary of Victoria’s Education Department, and director-general of education in the Australian Capital Territory and Queensland. He holds a doctorate in education from the University of Western Australia.

Watterston’s publications include Focused: Understanding, Negotiating, and Maximizing Your Influence as a School Leader, co-authored with Yong Zhao, as well as research and reports on school improvement, education policy, student engagement, and educational reform.
