Jitka Sedláčková
Jitka Sedláčková is an assistant professor in the Department of English and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. She studied English language and literature at Masaryk University and completed a PhD focused on the reading of deaf learners in English as a foreign language in 2016. At Masaryk University she also works as a teacher trainer and serves as a lecturer and methodologist at the Support Center for Students with Specific Needs, where she has taught English to deaf and hard of hearing students since 2008.
Her research and teaching specialize in English as a foreign language for deaf and hard of hearing learners, with particular emphasis on reading, vocabulary learning, and learning strategies. She is a co‑editor of the volume Learning English as a Foreign Language for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Learners: Styles and Strategies and author of chapters within it, including work on strategies for reading and vocabulary learning. Sedláčková has also contributed to the earlier collection English as a Foreign Language for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons in Europe and to studies on foreign language learning experiences
