Joanne Nugent

Joanne Nugent is an educator and co-author of Learning Challenge Lessons, Elementary: 20 Lessons to Guide Young Learners Through the Learning Pit, part of the Corwin Teaching Essentials series published in 2018. She also contributed to Learning Challenge Lessons, Secondary English Language Arts: 20 Lessons to Guide Students Through the Learning Pit, a collection of dialogue‑driven lessons designed to help students develop key literary and thinking skills, published in 2019.

In these works, Nugent collaborated with Jill Nottingham, James Nottingham, Mark Bollom, and Lorna Pringle to create practical, classroom-ready lessons that guide learners through the “Learning Pit” model of challenge, cognitive conflict, and deep understanding.
