Joe Schmidt

Joe Schmidt is an educator and author who co-wrote Civil Discourse: Classroom Conversations for Stronger Communities (2022) with Nichelle Pinkney. He has worked as a high school teacher, a college professor for elementary pre-service teachers, and in district- and state-level leadership roles supporting rural and urban schools.

Schmidt is also the founder of Joe Schmidt Social Studies LLC, through which he provides support and professional development to educators and districts. He has served in leadership roles with social studies organizations across the United States, including groups such as iCivics, Learning for Justice, NCGE, and ThinkerAnalytix.
