Joellen Killion

Joellen Killion is a senior advisor to Learning Forward, where she previously served for many years as the association’s deputy executive director. She is recognized as an expert in linking professional learning with student achievement and has extensive experience in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality professional learning at the school, district, state/provincial, and international levels. Over more than four decades, she has led and contributed to major initiatives, including work on the Standards for Professional Learning and the design of comprehensive professional learning systems connected to college- and career-readiness standards.

Killion is the author or co-author of numerous influential books on educator learning and instructional coaching, including Coaching Matters, Taking the Lead: New Roles for Teachers and School-Based Coaches (2nd Edition), Assessing Impact: Evaluating Professional Learning, The Feedback Process: Transforming Feedback for Professional Learning, Becoming a Learning School, The Learning Educator: A New Era in Professional Learning, and Elevate School-Based Professional Learning, among others. She is a frequent contributor to Learning Forward’s journals and a sought-after speaker and facilitator, presenting at many U.S. and international education conferences on topics such as curriculum, coaching, professional learning, and leadership.[
