John Krownapple

John Krownapple is an educator, author, and consultant who specializes in professional learning and organizational development in the areas of equity, inclusion, belonging, and social justice. He has served for over 15 years as the coordinator of diversity, equity, and inclusion for the Howard County Public School System in Maryland, a district of more than 50,000–60,000 students, and has previously worked as a classroom teacher, curriculum specialist, district office administrator, professional development facilitator, and cultural proficiency program leader. Krownapple is also an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University, where his coursework focuses on organizational and pedagogical responses to issues that emerge from diversity. He holds a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Loyola University Maryland.

Krownapple is the author of Guiding Teams to Excellence With Equity: Culturally Proficient Facilitation and co-author of Belonging Through a Culture of Dignity: The Keys to Successful Equity Implementation and Teaching with Dignity: How to Cultivate Classroom Ecosystems Where People Thrive. His work and writing center belonging and dignity as keys to creating inclusive environments where people thrive in schools, workplaces, and communities.[12
