John Meehan

John Meehan is an educator, author, instructional coach, and curriculum designer based in the Washington, D.C. area. He has taught high school English and served as an instructional coach at Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia, and later worked as a Teacher Specialist for Gamification and Innovation with Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland. Meehan is recognized for his work in student engagement and gamified instruction, and has been named an ASCD Emerging Leader and served on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Teacher Advisory Council.

Meehan is the co-author of Fully Engaged: Playful Pedagogy for Real Results (2021), written with educator Michael Matera, which focuses on leveraging game design and playful pedagogy to create highly engaging, student-centered classrooms. He is also the author of EDrenaline Rush: Game-Changing Student Engagement Inspired by Theme Parks, Mud Runs, and Escape Rooms (2019), and has co-founded EMC2Learning.com, a platform dedicated to gamified and playful learning resources.
