John Spencer

John Spencer is an Associate Professor of Education at George Fox University and a former middle school teacher. He earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with an emphasis in history from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in educational technology from Northern Arizona University.

He is the co-author of Launch: Using Design Thinking to Boost Creativity and Bring Out the Maker in Every Student and New Teacher Mindset: Practical and Innovative Strategies to Be Different from Day One, and has also co-authored Empower: What Happens When Students Own Their Learning. Sources also identify him as the founder or co-founder of educational technology start-ups and note that his work has been featured in education publications such as Edutopia, Education Week, and Kappan.
