John W. Staley, Ph.D., has worked in mathematics education for more than 35 years as a secondary mathematics teacher, adjunct professor, district and national leader, and consultant. He has also served as a past president of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM), past chair of the U.S. National Commission on Mathematics Instruction, and a co-founder of Math Milestones.
Staley has presented at state, national, and international conferences, led workshops and professional development sessions, and received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics and Science. His published work includes Teaching Mathematics for Social Justice, Grades K-12: A Guide for Moving from Mindset to Action and coauthorship on Middle School (2023) and High School (2022) Mathematics Lessons to Explore, Understand, and Respond to Social Injustice, as well as Catalyzing Change in High School Mathematics and Framework for Leadership in Mathematics Education.
