Juan José Colsa

Juan José Colsa is a Mexican editorial designer, illustrator, and author known for his work in children’s and young adult publishing. He was born in Mexico City and completed his undergraduate degree and postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Architecture of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he has also taught. In recent years he has focused on editorial design and illustration for numerous publishers and public institutions, and his work has been exhibited both individually and collectively in various galleries.

Colsa has illustrated more than ten to fifteen books for children and young readers and contributes monthly to UNAM’s popular science magazine ¿Cómo ves?. He was included in the Diccionario de ilustradores iberoamericanos of CILELIJ in 2013 and has been a speaker at the IX Congreso Internacional “Diseñar para la Humanidad” organized by Universidad Anáhuac. As an author, his works include En el origen. Pequeños relatos mitológicos sobre la creación del mundo, a collection of mythological stories about the creation of the world published by Planetalector Infantil, and he is the illustrator of HaiCuba/HaiKuba: Haikus about Cuba in Spanish and English, a bilingual picture book celebrating Cuba’s people, culture, and natural world through haiku.[
