Judith R. Birsh

Judith R. Birsh, Ed.D., is an educator and literacy consultant specializing in reading and dyslexia. She earned a master’s degree in remedial reading and a doctorate in reading and language from Teachers College, Columbia University, and became a Certified Academic Language Therapist and Qualified Instructor after training with Aylett R. Cox in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Birsh founded and directed the Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills courses at Teachers College, Columbia University, and served as an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching. She edited the first three editions of Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills and co-edited the fourth edition with Suzanne Carreker; her related work includes the Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills Activity Book.
