Julia G. Thompson

Julia G. Thompson earned a B.A. in English from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She taught in the public schools of Virginia, Arizona, and North Carolina for forty years before retiring from classroom teaching. Thompson continues to work as a speaker, consultant, mentor, and advocate for first-year teachers.

She is the author of The First-Year Teacher’s Survival Guide: Ready-to-Use Strategies, Tools & Activities for Meeting the Challenges of Each School Day, now in its fourth edition, as well as Discipline Survival Guide for the Secondary Teacher and First-Year Teacher’s Checklist. She shares practical advice for educators through her website and blog.
