Juliana Worrell

Juliana Worrell is a co-author of _Great Habits, Great Readers: A Practical Guide for K–4 Reading in the Light of Common Core_, published by Jossey-Bass, alongside Paul Bambrick-Santoyo and Aja Settles. She is a longtime literacy and K–8 education leader with Uncommon Schools, where she serves as Chief Schools Officer K–8, overseeing the instructional program across dozens of elementary and middle schools in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.

Worrell began her career as an elementary school teacher in Newark and went on to become a principal and founding principal at several North Star Academy elementary campuses within the Uncommon Schools network. She is widely recognized as a national literacy expert, training teachers and school leaders around the country in science-of-reading–aligned literacy practices, data analysis, curriculum planning, and classroom instruction, and frequently contributes to public discussions on phonics-based instruction and literacy policy through op-eds, media appearances, and professional development work.
