Julie A. Taylor

Julie A. Taylor, PhD, is an education and curriculum consultant specializing in structured literacy and small-group reading instruction for grades K–8. She has worked in education for about 30 years, teaching students from prekindergarten through grade 12. Taylor holds bachelor’s degrees in elementary education and Spanish, a master’s degree in teaching second language learners, and a doctorate in curriculum and instructional leadership. She provides professional development, training, and coaching to educators, administrators, and leaders in nonprofit organizations and state education agencies in the United States and internationally.

Taylor is the author of Redesigning Small-Group Reading Instruction: Structured Literacy Practices for Differentiation, Acceleration, and Intervention, which offers research-based strategies, lesson plan templates, and frameworks aligned with Linnea Ehri’s five developmental reading phases to help teachers implement effective, equitable small-group reading instruction. She also presents on raising reading skills and streamlining small-group instruction through structured literacy approaches in professional webinars and trainings for K–8 teachers, literacy coaches, reading interventionists, and curriculum specialists.
