Julie Causton

Julie Causton is a bestselling author, inclusive education advocate, and founder and CEO of Inclusive Schooling, a professional development organization focused on creating more inclusive schools. She is a former tenured professor in the Inclusive and Special Education Program in the Department of Teaching and Leadership at Syracuse University, where she headed the Inclusive Elementary Education Program, and previously worked as an elementary, middle, and high school special education teacher in inclusive settings. Causton earned her BSE (1995), MS (1999), and PhD (2003) in Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Causton has authored numerous books and articles on inclusive education, including From Behaving to Belonging: The Inclusive Art of Supporting Students Who Challenge Us (with Kate MacLeod), The Way to Inclusion: How Leaders Create Schools Where Every Student Belongs, and Reimagining Special Education: Using Inclusion as a Framework to Build Equity and Support All Students. Her work appears in more than 30 educational research and practitioner journals, and she frequently collaborates with school leaders, educators, and families across the United States to support inclusive school reform and equity-focused practices.
