Juliet Mohnkern
Juliet Mohnkern is an educator and school leader who co‑authored Tools for Teaching Conceptual Understanding, Secondary: Designing Lessons and Assessments for Deep Learning with Julie Stern and Krista Ferraro. She serves as Director of High Tech Middle Mesa in San Diego, California, having previously directed High Tech Middle North County and held school leadership roles at High Tech Middle Chula Vista, after completing an MA in School Leadership at the High Tech High Graduate School of Education.
Originally from Connecticut, Mohnkern has taught and led in schools in Boston and Washington, DC, including work at MATCH Public Charter School in Boston and at Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools for Public Policy in DC, where she served as Director of Curriculum Innovation and Public Policy and helped redesign concept‑based curriculum aligned to Common Core standards. She holds degrees from Boston College (in Classics) and American University (in Ethics, Peace Studies, and Global Affairs) and has been involved in co‑creating the educator organization Education to Save the World, focused on transforming schools for 21st‑century learning.
