Kamania Wynter-Hoyte

Kamania Wynter-Hoyte, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education in the Department of Teacher Education at the University of South Carolina. Her scholarship focuses on culturally relevant literacies, family and community literacy practices, African Diaspora literacy, and countering anti-Blackness in teacher education and early childhood spaces. She teaches courses in culturally relevant pedagogy, literacy methods, and linguistic pluralism, drawing on her prior experience as an elementary school teacher in diverse school settings.

Wynter-Hoyte earned her Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning: Language & Literacy from Georgia State University. She is the coauthor of Revolutionary Love: Creating a Culturally Inclusive Literacy Classroom and Revolutionary Love for Early Childhood Classrooms: Nurturing the Brilliance of Young Black Children, both published by Scholastic. Her research has appeared in journals such as Journal of Literacy Research, Theory Into Practice, Teachers College Record, and International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education.
