Kara L. Vandas
Kara L. Vandas is an educator, author, and education consultant with a longstanding focus on learner agency, clarity, and student empowerment. She began her career teaching in an alternative school for youth at risk and later taught middle and high school in public education before moving into coaching and professional learning roles supporting teachers and school leaders. Vandas holds a Master’s degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Regis University and presents nationally and internationally on learner agency and efficacy.
As an author and consultant, Vandas partners with schools and districts across the United States and internationally, working on instruction, curriculum design, formative assessment, and evidence-based learning practices. She is the co-author of Clarity for Learning: Five Essential Practices That Empower Students and Teachers, Partnering with Students: Building Ownership of Learning, Learner Agency: A Field Guide for Taking Flight, Amplify Learner Voice through Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Assessment, and a contributor to Peer Power: Unite, Learn and Prosper.
